Blog #8 Public PLN – Balancing PLN & Public Discourse

Interacting with a public audience in the media room has its advantages. These are people with different identities, social statuses, occupations and cultures. But they are all in the same media space, so they share different thoughts. There are also some risks associated with the involvement of public figures and persons in positions of trust in the media space. For example, posting false information or inappropriate remarks can affect people’s trust and even make people hate them

First, accept negative reactions and criticisms with caution. Accepting other people’s opinions makes them feel respected. Second, try to make changes to reduce these negative reactions and criticisms. You can’t please everyone, so don’t worry about avoiding all negative responses and reviews.

SNS spreads information very quickly, so attention-grabbing people need to pay close attention to the use of SNS. They should show their positive side and reduce their chances of showing negative remarks or actions. People, especially children, are more likely to be influenced when they use social media due to the attention paid to notable people. Therefore, social media celebrities should promote positive things.

Being in the public eye and having a PLN will make the person’s speech more credible. When this person is sought after, others will believe what he/she says. The person can affect the direction of public opinion. Also, he/she can get more income by having a PLN. For example, the person who are being in the public eye and having a PLN which has many followers can promot products on his/her PLN. So he/she can increase his/her income and get a better life.

The caveat is that your speech is monitored by your employer. I can only talk about work, and I can’t express my opinion as I want. For example, dissatisfaction or dissatisfaction with the company. The advantage is that employers can better manage their employees. Online tools can also block offensive and illegal language.
